To Whom it may concern:
As a homeowner in Tahoe Keys I want to express my deep concerns regarding the proposed vacancy tax being considered in South Lake Tahoe. We bought our home there to be used as a vacation home for our family with the intention of keeping it in the family through generations. We pay for its upkeep and we pay property taxes just like any other home owner at Lake Tahoe. We also go out to dinner and shop in the local stores when we come up to the house, which is clearly a benefit to the businesses at Tahoe.
We did not buy the house so that we could rent it, and would not rent the house in spite of the tax if it passes. This tax is clearly just a money grab by big brother trying to stick his nose into our business knowing that home owners like us cannot vote on the measure, and has nothing to do with getting more affordable housing in Tahoe.
It is our individual right to use this home as we wish. The tax is clearly unconstitutional and we would join the class action lawsuit against this tax if it passes.
